Guide to Animal Rights
Animals have some similarities to human beings because they are conscious and they are responsive. Animals respond in different ways and if you ask pet owners, they can tell you that each animals is unique, precious in its own identity, and they should be cherished and protected. Since animals are lower than human beings, there are many people who believe that they cannot feel and that we should not be so concerned about animal welfare.
There are many people who believe that animals have no basic right to life that they deserve. There are other who believe that humans are above all animals and makes a moral distinction between them. Another group would tell you that the feelings, and experiences of animals are much lower than a human being’s and thus should not be given the same status as a human has. The wrong sense of righteousness and entitlement has influenced these belief systems. If people will just overcome their biases, then it all boils that to animals having their own rights in this world.
Animals should also be given the right to live in a clean and safe place. We all know humans have this kind of behavior to destroy the natural world like what they do to lush rainforests which soon becomes flat lands and rich coral reefs are turned into ocean wastelands. If we destroy the environment for human gain, then we are also destroying the only places which animals can call home. This is the reason why the green movement is also closely linked with the animal rights movement.
One of the most popular displays of human greed is using animals for products for profit. Economic incentive makes this people think that it is alright to kill animals for the sake of gain. Poachers, shark finners , and other people who view animals are commodities are many these days. It is disturbing how the basic rights of animal life are discarded and replaced with a dollar sign. Since animals have a right to live free of suffering at the hands of humans, it is important that we consider viable alternatives to animal products.
Animal rights activists are very strong in what they believe in. The primary things that animals rights advocates believe are given below.
